Celia’s Christian Testimony

Thanks so much in Him for this website. I wasn’t aware of it until after Tim Binder went Home, but will surely be reading here in the future.

As for a testimony, I wasn’t raised in church, but grew up hearing bits and pieces about Jesus Christ and God in the Bible Belt and from my Christian and Jewish parents. So I identified as a Jewish Christian. I didn’t understand the plan of salvation, however, until a total stranger approached me in college. I was being “above it all” to listen and interact in the short conversation they instigated about God, but don’t remember any of it except for their last question. “If you were to die today, are you sure you would go to heaven?”

I didn’t realize it then, but the Holy Spirit was telling me that I should know the answer to it, but I did not. I loved friends and family, felt some empathy for others, and had prayed to God over the years, but for the first time in my life, I sincerely began seeking Him with all of my heart. I asked Him to show me the truth, no matter what it would mean for my life.

A few days later, I sensed He was talking to my heart, and stopped what I was doing to simply wait on Him. He told me that I desperately needed Him, that He had died so that I could know Him and be with Him, and that if I believed Him and walked with Him, everything in my life would change for good, spiritually. I did believe and receive Him as The LORD and Savior that wonderful morning in May, 1973. That was over 40 years ago, and I’m still being fit for heaven, but my hope is in Him, and I know that He is faithful to all of His promises to work on and through me.

That moment I believed and received Him, His indescribable peace and joy flooded me, and agape love entered into my being. I told my family within a few days what had happened, and even though I was such a baby in Christ, within a few years, my family had come to faith as well. About a month after coming into a real relationship with the living God, I found a Bible-believing church and got baptized. I can’t say that my Christian walk is exemplary by any means, but I can hardly wait for heaven. Whether He returns first or I’m called Home, He is closer and more loving than any friend could ever be, and I want to be in His will in all things.

  1. Thanks for posting it, Eric. Btw, I still consider myself Jewish, more than ever, actually. May God bless all who read on the site, and Merry Christmas in Yeshua!

  2. Yes, indeed, Celia – King Yeshua, the Redeemer King.
It is a great and succinct post Celia, as well as a wonderful story.

I believe a variant of that question is used in the core Evangelism Explosion evangelistic tract – do you know for sure that you are going to be with God in heaven? If you were to die today and God said to you why should I let you into my heaven, what would you say?

It focuses the mind on the core issue – our problem of sin, as well as on the solution – the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus in our place.

    Regards,
    Troy.

    1. Thanks, Troy. Sorry about such a delay in replying. Yes, our sin issue is the one we must face, so that we can see our great need and the sufficiency of His amazing grace!

    1. Hi, Thanda, sorry, I just now saw your request. I can tell you 2 of my favorite verses (I have many favorites), but these are both from Philippians. 1:6 tells us, “He who began a good work in you, will be faithful to complete it until the Day of Christ Jesus”., and 2:13, “for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure”. Our hope is in Him, not in ourselves, for only He is perfectly righteous, loving, faithful, powerful. I would tell you to rest in Him in faith and trust and stand on His words. As the apostle Paul said, “When I am weak, then I am strong”. He leaned on Jesus!

  3. Thanks Celia. Our testimony is one of the most powerful tools we have to appeal to the lost and to strengthen the family. I was moved by how that simple question about future certainty can move people to think and investigate the scripture truth regarding the new birth in Jesus Christ. May God continue to bless you.

  4. Thank you for the wonderful testimony. Really touched my heart. At times I feel like I fail god, I fall easily into temptations. I want to be born again but I feel like I will sin again. I love Jehova with all my heart. He’s truly amazing his love for his people is undeniable. In the past I was quite distant from him I sinned without care living my life and parting like there’s no tomorrow. But I feel the need to be closer to him and saved

    1. Nine dear I feel your pain.I have been there too, fearing to commit my self to the Lord because I was afraid I will sin again,I will disappoint him again. But one thing the Lord has taught me,i to not look at the circumstance but look at what He says about me.When ever I’m faced with temptation or I’m failing to live up to his standard I just focus on His unfailing long. And remember the word says ”God is working in us” so we are a work in progress. The only thing you should grasp is the fact that you are in Christ thus you are a new creation, the old has passed away God is now working on giving you His own image. One thing for sure, you will make mistakes, you will stumble now and then but God said He will hold buy His right hand..even if…

    2. Nide,
Do it! You wont regret asking Jesus into your heart as Lord of your life. He forgives all sins and mistakes, fills you with love and peace like never before and never stops loving you! Jesus always wants us more than we could ever know. Be blessed!

    3. Hi, Nide, wow, sorry I didn’t see this until today. I hope you’ve put your hope and trust in Jesus Christ as God come in the flesh and your savior, now. The apostle John tells us in the first letter of John, (1st John), chapter 4: “In this the love of God was made known to us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. This is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the payment for our sins.” John also says this; “We love Him, because He loved us first”. The joy and closeness that is in Jesus cannot even be compared to the best of human relationships, even Christian ones. He loves you so much He died for you on purpose. Is this who He is to you, Nide?

  5. well i want to thank Celia for that wonderful testimony.Infact am thinking about what i would tell God if i died today but sincerely have failed to get what i can tell him.God bless us all

    1. Thanks, Ali! He is so good to us all, all the time! I love the verse towards the end of Zephaniah, where we’re told that He rests in His love over us and delights over us with singing! He sees believers under His precious blood, we really are saints. None of us are perfect yet, but He’s faithfully transforming us into His image! May He assure your heart and strengthen you in faith of His love.

  6. Thank you Celia for your testimony; the more we hear the stronger we all become!
May God bless you even more in the years ahead to inspire others to come to Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ

    1. Thanks in Him, Clive. There is a wonderful ministry called Global Media Outreach, they used to be with Campus Crusade for Christ, now known as Cru. Have you ever felt led to become an online missionary? If so, they have a short training period, (about 2 months long and then about a 2 month period where a community leader follows your responses. It is Christian, non denominational, and focuses on evangelism and discipleship.

  7. Ur testimony is quite inspiring. Make the word of God the standard for your life. Love u in Christ Jesus.remember it honors God when u trust him even at times when we are tempted.

    1. Thanks, Jeremiah, and so true about trusting Him when we’re tempted! “Greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world”. God bless you, brother in Jesus Christ.

I am Christian I love God with everything I have ,I understand well when He says He raise the poor from dust cause that what He did for me .I was nobody but God make me to sit with the Kings .Rev 12: 11 says They overcame him by the blood of the lamb ,and by the word of their testimony.

  10. This is so beautiful! I am so thankful to our God that you came to experience Him and that your curiosity of God 40 years ago still doesn’t stop until now! Everyday there is still so much to learn about God and I’m so happy to hear that you brought your family to God. Your testimony has shown me that although bring people to Christ may not be instant and might take “a few years”, there is no giving up in hope and not giving up on your trust in God. I have been struggling to bring my peers to Christ but your testimony has inspired me that the lost is all. God bless

  11. I love God. Been in the presence of him is the best decision you can ever make. I have realized that despite all of the temptation God is always with you. His grace and power continue to save us day by day. I have seeing it. I have lived it and will continue to fellow Christ! His grace and blessing are with me till I meet him.

  12. Are your testimonies copyrighted or could I share some in a book I’m putting together about experiencing the peace of God? I’d reference your website accordingly. I’ve been looking for a few days now for some true testimonies and spotted your website and thought it could be of some help. Thank you.

    1. Ceilia, sorry for the confusion. I didn’t realize I was responding to you. I thought I was responding to the webmaster where all the testimonies were listed. I do like your testimony, regardless. I don’t understand blogging and have not done it before. May the Lord graciously bless you, sister.
