I'm not sure if you living the life as a pot head in your past because you smoked a plant that was never intended to be smoked. If you have done any research for yourself on juicing raw buds and leaves or making hemp oil from the buds and leaves you'd know that there is no psycho activity related to these. Not sure, as I'm still reading all these comments,, but the science of endocannabinoids produced by our bodies and its reaction to ingested hemp oil or juiced cannabis is clearly work of our God. I suggest looking deeper into the science behind cannabis and cannabinoids before thinking that God didnt intend for us to make wide spread use of this plant for prevention of illness.
Sincerely,

The gentleman who was arguing about Calamus otherwise know as Keneh Bosem was absolutly right. It was only meant for Royalty and Prophets mainly because it opens what is called the Third Eye, (which is on the pope's staff and looks like an acron, but was an ingrediant of the Holy annoiting oil. I really hope people stop judging and do a little digging themselves. Look up holy oil in Wikipedia and you can see for yourselves the deception you've all fallen victum too, God said to watch out for this. I seen a famous drawing of the tree of life and unfortunatly it also shows how man has fallen away from it. Stand up for your right to life why should the rich keep this from the sick and poor...because God will be true to his word and the MEEK shall inheirt the earth. It's too bad that it had to come to this, so many lives lost and I feel the worst is yet to come. It'll be a shame explaining this to the little ones of the earth who already fear that adults have ruined the earth for them to inherit. God Bless

For anyone out there who doesn't know any better the devil weed, otherwise known as Datura Stramonium and is very harmful look it up in Wikipedia and it is nothing like a cannabis plant. It is a weed, a cannabis plant is a tree that comes from a seed and from where I stand it is the Tree of life and thats why we aren't allowed it by the new Criminal Bill. Sure enough it is the true devil weed and those of you who do use cannabis here this, my Aunt is very religious and said she is happy I prayed to God for my medicine and received my papers to do it legally very quickly, this process usually takes many months. Miricles are there and God will answer you. So don't feel like you're going to hell because of cannabis, it's not mentioned in the Bible because it was used for everything. Anyone who's interested in the real picture and loved JFK watch a utube video called The Only President Who Ever Told The Truth, it was probably why he died and they're using their new privicy law to have it blocked. Good Luck and God Bless everyone especially all the little kids out there who are suffering because of grownups actions.

I'm deeply disturbed with the taboo label that has been given to cannabis, after having many, not a few, but 9 loved ones in my family passing away from cancer, which started a s skin cancer. I'm appalled at the lack of intelligence regarding cannibas being able to cure cancer. David Triplett has a video where it clearly shows that cannabis oil kills cancer cells and after losing so many family members whom I loved dearly including my Dad I feel like someone has finally pulled the wool from in front of my eyes and educated me. HYPOCRITES and MURDERS is what society is full of, I'm tierd of having to defend this same subject and feel like this is some kind of genicide towards human life! You have all been brainwashed like I was that it is evil, you must agree with your Government on their chemtrails too!!!...How can a God given plant that literally kills cancer cells and leaves all others untouched, like two pieces of a puzzle fitting perfectly together be illegal, but my doctor can perscribe me morphene which comes from Poppy plants, which also makes cocaine. I'll stick to my cannabis because I can still have my thinker in full gear and always be in control. The bull you all take from our evil hypocritical so called leaders is offensive, and makes me so angry that they would keep this a secret from sick individuals. Open your eyes, I guess the closed-minded people of the world would rather do chemo....good luck with that, but I must say I think it's unfair for you to subect your children and loved ones to a bunch of evil people's money making chemotheropy scam while withholding the truth from everyone since 1970 because there's no money it it for them, anyone can grow their own medicine and they'd lose billions from the pharmacutical sales. Sickening as it is our God tells us to forgive, and thats what I'm doing today...forgiving our leaders for the genicide...I somehow think God will be more judgemental once the day of age is here for surely man will continue down this path and never change for the sake of their children and what they will have to endure. Judge and you will be judged...judge not and you will not be judged. Peace and God Bless all the lost sheep for God will show us the way, while evil trys to destroy us and turn us against each other and try to run our lives. Freedom of choice is something given to man and man has taken that away from man and re-interpreted the Original Contitution to fit his evil ways. Repeant and it doesn't matter what enters the body, it's what comes out of it that matters. Watch out for anyone who tells you what to do except your God and the Holy Spirit, for the power of the people voted to make this legal many years ago when it was first discovered to cure cancer in the 70's. Ask yourself what is causing all this cancer maybe the question here is who? Since cannabis became illegal in the 18th and 19th century after being legal without restriction since 1600 BC, George Washington had it as 1 of his major crops...hypocrites...they are the ones telling you NO, NO while science and common sense say it cures cancer among many other ailments. God Bless all mankind for he knows not what he does, especially regarding the children, you feed them Ritalin and anti-depressants instead of a God given natural cure, you are poisoning your own with toxic pharmacuticals and wonder why they get cancer!!! I would think long and hard before I believed anything anymore right down to the Bible being revised...God condems those who do that..yet it has been done, think about it and Good luck I'll see you in heaven if you make it and God Bless everyone those lives lost to cancer unnessessarily and especially the children, whom God condems anyone if they cause harm to our little angels. Keep putting them through chemo and see where you end up, the choice is yours! Wake up people this is pure dictatorship and in my eyes that is evil!!!

The issue for spiritual leadership is not marijuana. The issue is one of mature spirituality. The qualifications for spiritual leadership are set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. And these are the qualifications that I have not found among those who use marijuana. Besides the other qualifications, a leader must also have the respect of the church body and be without reproach outside the church. As the Apostle Paul makes it very clear, if this means giving up one's right to drink or smoke, the mark of a mature Christian is that they are willing to sacrifice such matters for the sake of the flock.

Again, this is not to say that those who use marijuana cannot be Christians. But as we mature as Christians, our focus shifts from defending our rights to pursuing what is best for others. And for some of us, it means engaging in trying to provide wise advice for those who seek direction in the area of marijuana or other drugs. In my observations, I have not found marijuana to be productive in producing a spirituality that leads people to become missionaries for Christ, to become leaders in their local churches, Bible teachers, or strong evangelists. And this is true whether one exists in a country like ours where marijuana in some situations is against the law or whether one exists in a country like Holland or some third-world countries where marijuana use is allowed. Whether there is a cause and effect relationship between the use of marijuana and the leadership drought by those who use marijuana, I cannot definitively say. I simply note, in seeking to provide advice to others on how to mature as Christians, I find no compelling evidence to suggest that marijuana use helps. I do find evidence that those who have given up marijuana have grown thereafter spiritually in remarkable ways. I have listened to their testimonies. Their testimonies provide compelling evidence to me that marijuana use was hindering their spiritual growth. And the goal of the believer is to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The most troubling thing is how fear driven this prohibitionism is. A friend of mine said it well "regulations replace relationship so in the two to four hours they see eachother each week, Christians can feel like they belong". This is the very heart of the politcal "social conservatism" or better known as "socialism" that has infected the church body. Everyone, even nonbelievers, need to behave the way that we think is right...God doesnt force people to not use cannabis whether he agrees with the habit or not...Christians feel comfortable supporting politics that force others into line with their own beliefs. This is not what Christ taught.

Perfect love cast out all fear, those who fear are not perfected in love. Don't be afraid of cannabis or cannabis users. Fear the heart condition of idolatry no matter what the habit or substance. Anyway...I feel very strongly that God has so much more for His people. He must wonder why we squeeze ourselves into cardboard boxes when His house is big enough for everyone. Christ first.

Hmm again I find this a bit self referential to your baseline value system. Ask yourself why someone who uses cannabis would not be appointed as an elder in the church today...it is pretty much because they are using cannabis. The assessment of qualification as an elder tends to hold to the values of the elders in place. Most elders, in my experience would say (imo unscripturally) that smoking cannabis is a sin. Those who say they are not clear about it would still hedge their bets on the conservative side. So the fact that there are no elders who use cannabis (openly) proves really nothing at all. Cannabis and the gray area that it is somehow becomes a litmus test...this has more to do with it's legal status (which I believe is oppresion) than anything else.

As for Strong Christian Leaders, again self referential in a similar way. You have picked out your Strong Christian Leaders according to those who agree with you. I maintain that Christians, especially in America, should be ANGRY that fellow citizens lives are ruined for possesing a plant. Instead you Strong Christian leaders turn their eyes away from the poor and oppresed imo. Those are strong Christian leaders imo, not yours. Knowing wht the Bible and the Spirit says on matters like this is the key to unlocking how to deal with these differences in relationship. Jesus didn't die for us to allow these issues to seperate us. When one side of the issue rests on bogus arguments like: the Bilbles not clear but it's illegal...well it can be addictive....well it whatever. It cheapens the dialogue. I dont find people who employ those arguments to be strong at all. As for me I am with Paul on this today's church must be confronted like Peter at the kosher table either Christ make us clean or not...

It has been a while since I have read through the comments on this blog. I want to add a few things to think about. First, the great concern is the welfare of people. What helps guide people to that straight gate Jesus mentions (Matthew 7:14) is what believers seek to do. Few people find that gate. Yet, we want to be those who point people to that narrow way. And that way is Jesus Himself (John 14:6). Supporting or opposing marijuana is not the focal point of believers. Our cause as Christians must be Christ. And I do not expect non-Christians to understand this. But I expect those who call themselves Christians to embrace Jesus as our singular cause.

Second, we are in an age of rebellion against the value of wisdom. Not everything that is dangerous to us is mentioned in Scripture. I realize that for some there is an understandable reaction to the judgmental attitude of some Christians who make mountains out of matters that may not be sin. But the proper response to such attitude is not to remain silent when wisdom would say there is danger. Scripture speaks much about wisdom. If everything was spelled out in Scripture, there would be no need for wisdom. But it is precisely because Scripture is not ultimately a code of dos and don'ts (and I think intentionally so), that wisdom informs the wise in what is good and what is evil. Hebrews 5:14 speaks of those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. There is value in the counsel of wisdom in discerning those matters not expressly addressed by Scripture. And for those who desire wisdom, her voice is not silent. Wise counsel will protect us from that which harms us and will teach us to pursue that which ultimately will benefit us and humanity.

If we do not listen to the wisdom of the wise, we end up doing what is right in our own eyes. Though this may be a virtue in our present culture, it is not a virtue with God (Deuteronomy 12:8).

When I was younger, I did not appreciate this truth as much as I do today. There are struggles I could have avoided if I had listened to the wisdom of my elders. But there are also struggles I have avoided because I listened to wise counsel.

And, if wisdom is made known by her children (Matthew 11:19), then one may look to the lives of those who use marijuana and those who do not as one way of discerning wisdom on the subject. In my observations, there have been those who do not represent Christ on both sides of this matter (users and non-users). But what I have yet to find is a person who personally uses and who also is acknowledged by other strong Christian leaders as a vibrant example of what a Scriptural elder should be. If such people exist, they are rare. I have known many people who have used and when they sought to follow Christ wholly, they were inwardly convicted of their use and gave it up. And I have seen how God has transformed their lives.

None of this is to say that a Christian cannot smoke marijuana. Nor is it to say that all wisdom lies on one side or the other of the debate. But not everything said on the subject is wise. And it seems to me from my own observations, from listening to the various arguments, and wading through the "experts" on both sides of the issue, that wisdom lies in refraining from using for those who are believers.

But it is precisely because Scripture is not ultimately a code of dos and don’ts (and I think intentionally so), that wisdom informs the wise in what is good and what is evil.

And it seems to me from my own observations, from listening to the various arguments, and wading through the “experts” on both sides of the issue, that wisdom lies in refraining from using for those who are believers.

Thank you for your response. I believe that last comment you made refering allegiance to God first is the perspective that many bring to possesing and using cannabis even with the legal prohibition of possesion. As they view this as a gift from God they classify the prohibition as injustice and oppression - which as Christians we should be passionately against. Not saying I see a clear line in the sand here but I believe that is what I see being expressed by some on this blog. Awesome comments. Keep em coming.

Thank you for your response. For us it is sin is right on as anything not done in faith is sin. Just wondering if you would say that scripture discourages the use of cannabis. I am not baiting you just curious.
