In the grey
within the promise
of sustaining rain
a penetrating light
as if from heaven
chooses
this place to glimpse
with shining eye.
Here is no wealth,
no great adornment,
no instant draw for gaze.
Yet, on this place,
and for this moment,
the spotlight falls.
The Creator, artist at heart,
with sheer joy
wants to say “look here –
see what I have done.”
And just as this is ‘enough,’
though for this moment,
aside,
out of illumined elevation,
so grace is sufficient
for me.
