I believe in God above
And the Son of his Love
Whom he sent to die for you and me
I believe in the cross
Where he paid redemption’s cost
When he suffered there on cruel Calvary
And I know nothing I can give
Is worth the gift that was given
No pain I can live
Like those nails that were driven
No shame I can share
Is like the thorny crown he wore
No burden I can bear
Is like the cross that he bore
But I believe in God above
And the Son of his Love
Whom he sent to die for you and me
I believe in the cross
Where he paid redemption’s cost
When he suffered there on cruel Calvary
No home that can I give up
Is like the one he left above
No way that I can live up
To the life he gave in love
There’s no fear that I have known
That can ever compare
To the sin-debt he felt alone
When the Father left Him there
But I believe in God above
And the Son of his Love
Whom he sent to die for you and me
I believe in the cross
Where he paid redemption’s cost
When he suffered there on cruel Calvary
