Can Jesus Help Me Financially? Mentally? Physically?

Question from a Site Viewer

Hi. I’m struggling financially and mentally in my life. I am having many problems like financial instability, debts and family members getting sick. Can Jesus help me financially? Mentally? Physically? Can He help my family members with their sicknesses? If yes, in what way can He help?

How long will He continue to test my ability to fight with my problems?

Tim’s Answer

You ask whether Jesus can help you. You state that you are experiencing financial problems, mental issues, debts, and family members who are sick. When Jesus was on this earth, He healed many people. Nevertheless, the focus of His life was not on healing, but on saving us from our sins.

There is little doubt that Jesus Christ can help with financial problems, mental issues, debts, and illnesses. But even if He helped with all of these matters, as serious as they are, and left us in our sins, we would be helped not at all.

Accordingly, we do not find Jesus promising to fix all of our financial problems or resolve all of our illnesses whether mental or physical. But what we find is Jesus repeatedly promising to forgive our sins and give eternal life to those who trust in Him.

Then, for those who come to Him, He tells us not to worry about what we should eat or drink or how we are to be clothed, but rather to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.

When we focus our lives on Him, then He goes with us through the fire and the water, and even through the valley of the shadow of death.

Coming to Him does not mean that we will not have financial problems, but it does mean that He has promised to take care of us in the midst of such problems.

Coming to Him does not mean that we will not have illness (I have cancer), but it does mean that He is with us in our illness. And He will not allow us to be tested beyond what we are able, but will always provide a way of escape for us in the midst of our trials (1 Corinthians 10:13).

I do not know your particular situation. But I would encourage you to find a good, Bible-believing and practicing church in your neighborhood, and join with that fellowship of believers. They can help strengthen your faith in Christ and become a community to you.

I encourage you also to pick up your Bible, if you have one, and begin to read it. If you do not have one, there are many resources online that contain Bibles. You might start in the book of Matthew. Get to know Christ through the word.

As you draw near to Him He will give rest to your soul, wisdom to your life, and resources to face whatever challenges life brings.

My prayers are with you,

In His service,

tim
