Mirror

I look in the mirror and what do I see
Your ageing creation, reflecting at me
A mask that is hiding the truth of my being
Am I the person you think you are seeing?
The Spirit is in there, doing His best
To clean up the years of unholy mess
If only I’d help Him, by doing my part
The light of the gospel would be a start
Shining into pools of gloom
Rooms of pleasure, halls of doom
Caverns fighting to be free
Of chains that bind the inner me
Yes, I’ve faith that one fine day
And for this I gladly pray
I will be at one with He
Who died a dreadful death for me.
