What Happens After We Die?

Some groups say that after we die, we wait in the grave until the resurrection. Does Scripture really teach this?

After we die, do we go straight to heaven to be with Jesus? Or do we sit in the grave for an indeterminate amount of time until the resurrection? What does the Bible have to say about this topic?

Some groups, including the Seventh-Day Adventists, teach that believers, when they die, are in an unconscious state until the resurrection. Most of Christianity, however, does not agree with this teaching for the following reasons . . .

Do We Go Straight to Heaven After We Die?

God’s Gift

If you don’t know Jesus, this poem will tell you about the gift he offers to us – eternal life.

This is an amazing poem.

The author states his purpose in the opening stanza:

When I first heard the gospel news,
It was revealed to me,
Why Jesus Christ came to this earth,
To die to set us free.
I’d like to share this news with you,
Why the Lord Jesus came,
So you can have this free gift too,
When you call upon his name.

For those of you who don’t know the story of Jesus Christ and what He did for you and me, this poem will lead you in the right direction.

Did Jesus Die on Thursday or Friday?

If Jesus died on Friday and arose the next Sunday, what did He mean when He said He would be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights?

Jesus said, in Matthew 12:40, that as Jonah spent three days and three nights in the belly of a whale, so He would spend three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. If He was crucified on a Friday and raised the following Sunday, how do you explain the this statement?
