Sin and Repentance

Sin has a way of warping our conscience. It deadens our senses and desensitizes us to the promptings of the Spirit.

Sin has a way of warping our conscience. It deadens our senses and desensitizes us to the promptings of the Spirit.

Sometimes our prayers may seem weak and useless. Fortunately, we don’t have to rely on the power of our words, but on the power of the One listening. He is faithful and just to forgive our sins; we must be faithful in returning to Him.

Does the Bible talk about Marijuana?

Does Scripture support the use of marijuana? Did the anointing oil contain cannabis? Did Jesus use marijuana? Sula Benet believed so. We don’t.

Someone said that Jesus used marijuana; that the anointing oil contained cannabis. Interesting.

Many who believe this cite the work of Dr. Sula Benet, an etymologist from Poland. In 1936 she concluded that the Hebrew words “q’nah-bosem” (Exodus 30:23) were etymologically related to “cannabis” and then reached the further conclusion that the anointing oil included marijuana.  She noted the similarities with words from other Middle Eastern language groups.  She further noted that the word could be used to reference a reed plant or a hemp plant, but she reached the definite conclusion that in the Exodus passage it meant the hemp plant.

We find Benet’s arguments weak. Her logic fails in many areas.

We believe there are two fundamentals approaches to Scripture. One is to look for support for what you already believe. The other is to seek to find in Scripture how we should be changed. Those who use this second approach in their reading of the Bible may find this article of interest.

Soft Scoop

An entertaining Christian poem reminding us to be patient.

Poems bore me sometimes (sorry) but this one’s good. I know, I’m weird; I have a section on my site devoted to poems and my attitude toward them sucks. But occasionally I come across a gem I really like so it makes reading them all worthwhile (I’m being a little goofy here; there are many truly amazing original poems on our poetry page).

Anyway, I’m off topic. You need to check out this poem – Soft Scoop.

It’s written by a guy (Mike Bullock) who calls himself “versical” and I can see why. He’s skilled at the art of wordsmithing.

Christian Poems

Publish your original Christian poetry on our site. Send in your Christian poems and we’ll post them.

Poems never really were my thing. They bored me. But the older I get, the more I find myself liking poems, especially poems that speak to one’s walk with the Jesus of the Bible.

So, I created a page just for Christian poetry. If you have a poem that’s about Jesus, or related to your walk with Jesus, you can send it to me and I’ll post it! Right now we have about 40 poems but I want hundreds, if not thousands of poems that glorify Jesus Christ!

So, send ’em in. We love to read original poetry, and we love to publish it.
All for His glory!

Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Waiting on God and being content with current conditions can be a real drag sometimes. But God calls on us to be content with our circumstances and wait on Him. He has good things in store for all those who love Him.

Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment . . .
I Timothy 6:6 (ESV)

Peter Lamb (pseudonym) has submitted a fun article on the importance of waiting on God.

Are We Universalists?

We are not universalists.

Someone recently asked us (based on their reading of our statement of faith) if we are universalists.

A universalist, basically, is someone who believes that all men will be saved, because Christ died for all. While we believe that Jesus died for everyone, unfortunately, not everyone will accept His gift of eternal life.

If you want to know what we believe, check out the following article.

Michael’s Christian Testimony

Michael was raised in a Christian home. He wandered, but ultimately returned to God’s goodness.

Michael’s testimony speaks volumes about God’s faithfulness. We may wander, but He’ll always patiently seek us out. God has a vibrant life in store for all those who earnestly seek Him.

Submit to His will and discover your life’s purpose.
