God’s True Beauty

A poem. God’s own creation turned against him. He loved humanity and yet he was mocked, ridiculed and murdered.

A poem about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

It’s easy to forget what Jesus did for us. And it’s easy to diminish his pain. He created us; He gave us life and everything good that goes along with it. Then, his own creation turned against him. His own creation murdered him in cold blood.

Imagine, for a moment, your child turning against you. You did all you could for him. You gave him food, shelter and love. Yet, now, he hates you – without reason. He wants to kill you. Imagine how that would feel.

Mary’s Testimony

Mary’s testimony of freedom from New Age deception.

As a new ager (reiki master, chakra balancer, energy healer, angel energy healer, wizard, sorcerer) Mary considered herself and expert in all things spiritual. Then Jesus Christ came along and opened her eyes to the truth. She began to understand how completely Satan had deceived her.

Has the Second Coming Already Occurred?

A belief called preterism (also partial preterism) is making the rounds in the local church. What is it? And does it have any validity?

There has been a surge in recent years of a belief in what is known theologically as partial preterism. Preterists teach that Christ returned in 70 A.D. and fulfilled all of the prophecies of the Olivet Discourse and Revelation. Partial preterists believe that most of the prophecies of the Olivet Discourse and Revelation had their fulfillment in 70 A.D., but that there is still a future coming of Christ at the end of the age.

So what are we to make of preterism and partial preterism? Is there any validity to this belief?

Find out what we think.

Karinne’s Christian Testimony

We all lose loved ones. Sometimes it’s cancer – sometimes a car wreck. It’s easy to question God in such times.

Karinne lost her mother to cancer. During the ordeal she became angry with God. Why had He taken her mother?

She soon discovered that God has ways of letting us know that He still cares about us, even when we’re struggling with life’s challenges. He often shows us His love in surprising ways.

Read Karinne’s testimony and be blessed.

Do We Have Free Will?

Free will. Do we have it? If God knows we’ll argue with someone tomorrow, do we really have a choice in the matter?

The Bible tells us that God knows everything. He knows the past, the present and the future. Since He knows the choices we will make before we make them, do we really have the ability to make our own choices? Do we really have free will?

For instance, if God knows I’m going to yell at my boss tomorrow, and tomorrow comes, do I really have the option of not yelling at my boss? Or is it already set?

Find out what we think.

Free Will

Jesus of Judah

A site viewer posed the following question:

The Bible says that the Messiah would be of the tribe of Judah and a descendant of David. According to Christians, Jesus was born of a virgin. However, tribal affiliation is conferred through the birth father only (Numbers 34:14, Numbers 1:18-44, Leviticus 24:10). The mother’s tribal affiliation was considered irrelevant to what her children’s tribal affiliation was and tribal affiliation/genealogy could not be inherited though a stepfather; only property could be inherited. Because Christians believe that Jesus had no human father, he would have had no tribal affiliation and would be eliminated from messianic consideration.

How can this be refuted?

The logic seems sound, doesn’t it? Let’s see if Scripture provides any clues as to how Jesus could be considered of the tribe of Judah.

Strong in You, Lord

God desires to interact intimately with us. And through Him, we can lead victorious lives – no matter what trials life may bring.

Sometimes, when we think we’re doing just fine, when we think we’ve got it all together – we fall flat on our faces. Then we either get up and do the same thing all over again, or we call on God to help us through.

This poem suggests a better way. Stay close to God all the time, through good and bad, and He’ll guide you and protect you every step of the way. God doesn’t want to be distant; He wants to interact with us and give us a life of victory.

And God Cried

This poem reminds us that God cares for our every need. He loves us and will see us through the painful trials of life.

I haven’t updated this blog for a while due to many things . . . first, my computer was out of commission for almost three weeks. Second, I was in Alaska fishing (and visiting with family) for about two weeks. So, there are my excuses. Now, on to the real reason for this post.

Melinda Lancaster writes some amazing poetry. She gave me permission to post poems from her site, so I have finally posted one. More will follow, you can be sure. This one is called “And God Cried.”

It’s a moving poem about how God cares deeply and personally for us. It reminds us that God doesn’t simply want to rule over us; He wants to be intimately involved with our lives. He wants to provide for all our needs. We can trust Him to be there when we’re in pain, alone, frightened . . . He loves us and this poem reminds us of that.
